Our History
by Julie Bogenholm, Owner/CEO
Julie Bogenholm writes, “Those who knew my mom thought of her as one of the most independent women/business women they knew. She dedicated her life and business to helping others. When she became ill with cancer in 2004, she became dependent on us, her 4 children, to take care of her. Watching us clean her house, prepare her meals, care for her pets, and do her laundry made her feel terrible. She wanted us to be able to have nice visits instead of watching us do her chores. She wanted to continue to fill the mother and grandmother role when we were at her home.
Mom could see the personal burden she was placing on her family with her decision to stay at home, where she was most comfortable. Though we were all happy to care for her, we had busy lives, full-time jobs, and children and spouses who needed us, too. Mom wanted us to be with her because we wanted to be, not because we had to.
So, independent as she was, mom decided to hire someone to do the tasks she didn’t like having her kids do for her. The amount of control over her care it gave her was invaluable. It gave her pride and quality of life in her last months. She had help with cleaning, laundry, meals, errands, watching grandkids, pet care, gardens, birdfeeders, and much more. I decided this service should be offered to others through a company inspired by her lifelong vision of helping others.
Visionary Home Care now provides services for anyone who wants or needs help at home. All inspired by Peggy Vincent, my mom, an amazing, independent, visionary woman.”
